October: A Month of Fire, Fate, and the Final Harvest

Full Moon in Aries: Tuesday 7th October | New Moon in Libra: Tuesday 21st October | Samhain: Thursday 31st October

Theme of the Month: Reckoning, Reclaiming & Rooting into Mystery

October is a portal.

It begins with Aries fire, bold, raw, uncompromising, then shifts into Libra’s call for balance, beauty, and right-relationship. And at Samhain, the veil thins. The dead draw near. The wheel turns once more.

This is a time for fierce honesty, sacred remembrance, and deep descent.

Let it burn. Let it balance. Let it begin again.

🌕 Moon Phases & Rituals

♈ Full Moon in Aries Ritual: Fire of Reckoning
Aries lights a flame beneath what we’ve been avoiding. This Moon demands courage, release, and raw self-honesty.

You’ll need:

  • A red or black candle
  • Paper and pen
  • A safe place to burn or bury

Write what you're angry about, tired of, or ready to burn away.

Light the candle and say:

“I honour my fire. I choose what I carry forward.”

Burn the paper (safely) or bury it.

Stand tall and whisper:

“I survived this. I am ready for what’s next.”

♈ New Moon in Libra Ritual: The Mirror Spell
Libra invites beauty, fairness, and deep recalibration, especially in relationships with self, others, and the wider world.

You’ll need:

  • A small mirror
  • White rose petals or rose tea
  • A gold pen or marker

Gaze into the mirror and say:

“I see the truth of who I am. I call in balance and beauty.”

Write one new intention (word or phrase) directly on the mirror’s edge or on a note to place beside it.

Sip the rose tea or scatter the petals around the mirror to bless the space.

🎃 Samhain (Witch’s New Year) Ritual: Ancestral Offering
Samhain marks the end of the old cycle. It’s a liminal threshold between seasons, between worlds. A sacred time to honour the dead, listen for guidance, and reclaim your roots.

You’ll need:

  • A photo, object, or name of an ancestor or beloved dead
  • A candle (black or deep purple)
  • An offering: food, wine, herbs, or a handwritten note

Light the candle and say:

“I honour those who walked before me.
I listen to the whispers of the dark.”

Place the offering on your altar or windowsill overnight.

Thank them in your own words. Leave the candle to burn safely or extinguish with gratitude.

🪄 Monthly Spell: The Veil and the Flame

Use between 21st–31st October

Light a candle in the dark (any colour that calls to you).

Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Ask:

“What truth is hidden in shadow? What is asking to be seen?”

Journal around whatever arrives, image, feeling, memory.

Say:

“With this flame, I see. With this heart, I remember. With this will, I choose again.”

📖 October Journal Prompts

At the Full Moon (7th)

What am I burning through right now?

Where am I ready to stand my ground or start over?

At the New Moon (21st)

What does true balance look and feel like in my life?

What needs mending in my life, my relationships, my self-image?

At Samhain (31st)

What have I outgrown, and what haunts me still?

What blessings, strengths, or stories have I inherited from my ancestors?

🕯 Sabbat Portal: Samhain – Witch’s New Year

Samhain is the third and final harvest, a festival of death and rebirth. The light dies. The year ends. But in the dark, seeds stir.

This is the time to honour your dead, your grief, your ghosts, and to call your power home.

🖤 Samhain Ritual: The Thread Between Worlds

You’ll need:

  • Black thread or string
  • A photo or name of someone you wish to honour
  • A black or white candle

Tie one end of the thread to the photo or write their name and wrap it around.

Light the candle and say:

“This thread connects us. This flame remembers.
I walk with you still, through time and tide.”

Keep the thread in a safe place or burn it at the next New Moon.

🎴 Samhain Tarot Spread

What part of me is dying or dissolving?

What wisdom do my ancestors or guides offer me now?

What seed lies dormant in the dark?

How can I honour both the grief and the gift of this turning?

Let October be a month of fierce clarity, sacred endings, and soul-deep remembering.

May your fire burn clean.

May your ancestors walk beside you.
And may you cross the threshold into the dark with courage and grace. 🔥🌕⚖️🕯
