As the tender shoots of spring break through the frost-hardened earth, heralding a season of renewal and growth, so too do we seek to shed the remnants of the past, inviting rejuvenation into our very essence.

The Renewal of the Self: A Spring Cleansing Bath is a ritual bath designed to wash away the old energies, fears, and obstacles, baptising oneself in the fresh, vibrant promise of spring.

What You'll Need

  • A bathtub filled with warm water
  • Epsom salts or sea salts to detoxify and purify
  • Fresh spring flowers or their petals (such as daffodils, violets, or cherry blossoms)
  • A green or white candle to symbolise new beginnings and purification
  • Crystals that resonate with renewal (like clear quartz, amethyst, or green aventurine) placed around the bath
  • Soft, ambient music or nature sounds to enhance the atmosphere
  • A clean, white towel for drying

Ritual Steps

1.Preparation of Sacred Space
Begin by ensuring the bathroom is clean and welcoming.

Arrange your crystals around the bath and place the fresh flowers or petals beside or in the tub.

Light the candle, letting its flame herald the start of your ritual.

2. Creating the Elixir of Renewal
As the tub fills with warm water, add the Epsom or sea salts, dispersing them with your hands while focusing on their purifying properties.

3. Entering the Waters of Rebirth
Slowly step into the bath, allowing yourself to sink into the warmth.

Close your eyes and take deep breaths, inhaling the therapeutic scents, and with each exhale, release any burdens, doubts, or fears.

4. The Act of Cleansing
Submerge yourself in the water, if possible, submerge yourself fully for a moment.

As you emerge, imagine shedding an old layer, much like the earth casts off the frost to reveal new life in spring.

5. Meditation and Affirmation
While soaking, meditate on your intentions for the coming season.

Reflect on what you wish to grow, develop, or begin anew.

Repeat affirmations that resonate with your desires for renewal, such as "I cleanse myself of the past and open my heart to new beginnings."

6. Ritual Conclusion
Once your meditation feels complete, slowly rise from the bath, visualising yourself stepping into a new phase of life, refreshed and rejuvenated.

Extinguish the candle, marking the end of the ritual.

7. Post-Ritual Care
Gently dry yourself with the white towel, treating yourself with care and kindness.

If you choose, dress in clean, comfortable clothing that makes you feel renewed.

The Renewal of the Self: A Spring Cleansing Bath is a symbolic rebirth, an alignment with the cyclical rebirth of nature itself.

Through this sacred practice, we not only purify our bodies but also our spirits, embracing the essence of spring’s promise of renewal, growth, and infinite possibilities.
